郵便でつなぐ、リレー絵手紙
A relay, carried by post
コロナ禍で集まりが休止した江別の絵手紙サークルでは、紙を郵送で回しながら、一つの作品を描き継ぎました。次の人に届いた紙には、前の人が残した絵と言葉がありました。描き終えたら、次の人へ送る。受け取った人が、さらに描き加える。この作品では、「送ること」も制作の一部になっています。
When pandemic closures interrupted the Ebetsu etegami group’s meetings, members found a way to continue a shared work. A roll of paper went by post from one person to the next, with each stage joining what had come before. The project brings the act of sending into the making itself. Someone finishes a contribution, passes it on, and leaves room for another person’s marks.

小さな交換から
自分たちで試すなら、まずは二人で、身近な題材を一つ選び、一枚ずつ描くところからでもよいでしょう。何を送り合うか、届いた作品をどうするかも、あらかじめ相談しておくと安心です。
A small beginning
For an exchange of your own, you could start more simply: two people, one familiar subject and a card each. Agree together on what will be exchanged and how it will be returned or kept.
